What We're All About
The 18-24 class started in June of 2004; we had about 8 or 10 college-aged students that felt they no longer "fit in" with the Senior High Youth Group (meaning that the lessons didn't seem to apply anymore since we weren't IN high school anymore). We decided that we'd try our own class; without a teacher so no one would feel like they were responsible and so we didnt have to go by a particular lesson plan. We would show up on Sundays (at the parsonage, in the beginning) and study. We decided to start with Hebrews but we learned quickly that analyzing The Bible is harder than it seems. Nathan and I (Marian) ended up going to barefootministries.com and finding some lesson plans just as guidelines and found that they (sometimes) were pretty handy and applied to a lot of the things in our lives.
What are we? We are a discussion group, basically. We use the lesson plans as guides (we dont follow them exactly). We like to pick at what the authors are saying and discuss what it means to our world today. How does God work in us and our world?
We were careful in choosing a name for our class as not to scare away people who were in this age range (18-24) because they are not in college -- Some of the people in the class are not in college and that's just fine!! So whether you're in college or not, feel free to join us one Sunday morning after first service (Between 10:15 and 10:40, it depends on the Pastor!). We are located in room 201 (I think, but don't quote me on that); at the bottom of the stairs to the left and we are the first classroom on the right beside the bathrooms. Come join us!
