Welcome to the Hagerstown Church of the Nazarene!
Our church is affiliated with over 12,800 other Nazarene churches in the U.S.A., Canada, and in over 143 World Areas. This group of churches began in 1908 in Pilot Point Texas. Our name “Church of the Nazarene” is taken from Jesus, who was from Nazareth. We are a church that seeks to follow Jesus. Today the international church has more than 1.4 million members and 742 missionaries as well as colleges and compassionate ministry centers.
The church of the Nazarene in Hagerstown was organized in 1968, and started in a small rented stone church building in the west end of Hagerstown. The ministry center at our present location was built in 1970, with the educational addition being added in 1990. Beginning with 14 charter members our attendance has grown to over 200, and has been able to assist in forming 3 other Nazarene congregations in Hagerstown – a Latino congregation, a Haitian congregation, and Hope Bridge Church of the Nazarene – our “daughter” church in the west end of Hagerstown. Our church has become know in the community for its emphasis on children.
